God’s Peace – Grace and Thought

A couple of years ago, I decided to give up making new year’s resolution because I just wouldn’t keep them. I decided to create a theme instead for each new year and work on that theme throughout the year. Last year my theme was “courage” and I was amazed at how much courage I summed up within myself to create positive changes in my life that helped my spirit grow in the most outstanding way! This year my theme is “peace”!

We are living in a time where it seems that the level of violence is increasing. It’s impossible to ignore how much we are allowing hate to become such a dominant force in our lives that seeking peace has become for us a crucial necessity if we want to change our world and stop ourselves from destroying each other. As my relationship with God becomes stronger, I’ve discovered that our acceptance of fear is what’s driving us to hate. We are really just acting out our fear.

But peace most certainly does exist and it’s on the inside of us, because Jesus left us His peace. And I love the AMPC version of that verse John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]”

This is the peace that I choose to seek within myself this year! I grasp and embrace the quote, “Peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of Christ.” – Sheila Walsh. I choose to seek and embrace God’s presence in order to find that peace within myself because I believe that this is what we all need to do if we’re going to change and bring peace to this world. That peace has to come from the very core of who we all are.

Jeremiah 29:12-13 says, “Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

That’s exactly my plan! I choose to seek God with all my heart and find Him, because I’m ready for I’m most certainly ready for His peace!
